RESEARCH & WRITING

Thoughtful research starts with a good question.

Strong research begins with curiosity: identifying a question worth asking, designing a study that can answer it, evaluating evidence carefully, and building an argument. Whether you're writing an IB Extended Essay, bachelor's thesis, master's dissertation, or research paper, I help you move from the first question to the final draft.

Learn how academic research works, from developing a focused research question to finding sources, building an argument, and completing your first substantial independent project.

Your first substantial research project

Design a rigorous research project with a clear methodology, scope, and structure. I help you develop a project that is both academically rigorous and realistically achievable.

Whether you're preparing a conference paper, developing an independent research project, or refining a manuscript, I help transform complex ideas into clear, evidence-based writing.

Research beyond the classroom

How research takes shape

Good research is rarely linear. Questions evolve, evidence reshapes arguments, and writing often reveals what still needs clarification. I help students navigate that process with structure, confidence, and thoughtful feedback — from an initial idea to a finished piece of research.

Design

Define a focused, researchable question · Narrow the scope to a manageable project · Build an appropriate theoretical foundation through literature review · Choose a research design that fits the question

Execution

Develop surveys, interviews, or other data collection strategies · Analyze evidence systematically · Identify meaningful patterns and findings · Distinguish evidence from interpretation

Interpretation

Build a logical, evidence-based argument · Structure a clear academic paper · Refine clarity, style, and academic voice · Revise through constructive feedback

How we can
work together

One-to-one tutorials

Investment:

150€ / 170$ per hour

Suitable for individual consultations or ongoing supervision throughout your project. Supervision packages are available upon request.

A note on affordability

I don't want cost alone to prevent a student from reaching out. I reserve a limited amount of time for students and families who would otherwise be unable to work with me. If you think we would work well together but my standard rates are beyond your family's means, please get in touch.

Tutorials may include:

  • Research design and project planning

  • Feedback on outlines, drafts, and structure

  • Discussion of methods and data collection

  • Writing, revision, and argument development

On working with drafts

Every supervision session includes preparation beforehand and brief follow-up afterwards.

If your project requires extensive work outside our meeting—such as detailed written feedback on a substantial draft, comprehensive manuscript review, or extensive editing (typically more than one hour)—that time is billed separately at 2/3 of my standard hourly rate. I'll always discuss this with you beforehand.
